Howdy :)

Thinking of finding an old case and having a go at modding it. To what end, I don't know, but then, I am rather drunk. Is a Dremel strong enough to cut 0.8mm SECC, or would I need something with more grunt?

Don't worry, I'll be sober when I do this.

Dremel is fine for cutting steel just expect to go through a lot of discs. Aluminium is a lot easier to go through.

Needless to say my case had to be steel. Expect one heavy duty disc to last roughly 3 inches on a good run.

I'd use a jigsaw if you're cutting a fair amount. Use a dremel for smaller areas/smaller cutting ie removing fan guards etc.

Goggles are indeed a must, when you get speed up bits are flying everywhere and you don't want to have to be worrying about bits getting in your eye. Cutting perspex is even worse! I once got a bit of melted plastic in my eye.. sore!

Dremel, as far as I've seen have two sets of discs, normal and heavy duty, just get the heavy duty ones.
