Drilling at a steep angle through breeze block for TV cabling

Morning!

I've recently gone from TV on its stand to mounting it on a wall (above an unused fireplace, old back boiler used to be behind it...this is important!).

I haven't run the cables yet they are just dangling.

Now...the void behind the TV where the back boiler used to be is pretty good but not perfect..the actual bit of brick that is accessible that I can see when I look in to the void from behind is about 20cm lower than the bottom of the TV.

So, my initial plan was to just chase out 20cm of wall, drill a hole through a feed cables down, replaster and paint over (ball ache).

My new idea is...could I use a decent length 250mm/400mm masonry drill bit and drill at an angle through the breeze blocks down from where the TV is to where I'd want it to come out and then just feed the cables down this hole so there is no need to chase out? The hole would have to be about 20mm wide.

I guess my main question is, is there any reason I shouldn't drill through breeze block at a steep angle ..for example do I risk damaging the block and causing more issues etc? I have done a fair amount of quality drilling in my time so I'm confident in my abilities but just not whether or not this is a terrible idea and I'm not seeing it!

Cheers for any help....if nobody gets what I mean I can always crack open paint and do a terrific diagram for you all ;)

Thanks for your reply this is what I was a bit worried about as well, may have to just go for the drilling a straight hole and chasing out I guess to be on the safe side! If anyone thinks this is wrong and should be fine let me know, but otherwise looking like I shouldn't do the angle...

If your measurements are close, what's to stop you drilling horizontally then vertically up your boiler cavity?

It gets a bit complicated behind there as they left some of the old bits in place so I can't use the cavity until about 20cm lower than where the TV is...a bit frustrating but I'm sure ill make it work!
