Last night i drilled (drilled? hmmm... what is the past tense of "to engage in the act of drilling"?) into the side of my case using, um, a drill and some metal drilling drill bits. I G-Clamped the side onto a workbench and drilled 5mm holes to hold 2x 120mm fans.

After i had finished, the fans fit perfectly (by like *** work of a miracle) but the side panel was all bent and mishapen. I had to apply a -lot- of force to drill through the panel.

I plan now to use a 115mm hole bit to open up the vent for the fans to draw air through. Im worried though that due to the large surface area of the hole bit, i wont be able to apply the pressure i need to break throguh the surface.

Has anyone got any tips or hints as to how to drill through a side panel without bending it? Anything is appreciated

Do it on a flat piece of wood that you don't mind getting a few holes in.
