Is illegal, no?

How come I see a lot of people walking down the street drinking cheap cans of lager with there tops off?

I wouldnt mind if they were girls, but sadly I think they are guys.

Or just ugly girls.

... and that's why. You're creating a "but" statement saying it's alright when, in fact, it's not right at all. As long as you or anyone else keeps making exceptions it will go on.

It is illegal in some borough around london. It is often around the high street hence drinkers put them in a brown paper bags.
Iirc, there is a sign on most lamp post to tell you anyway.

Aye the potential problem, and is that problem actually happening?

Striding outside and yelling "Halt in the name of the law! I am performing a citizen's arrest" to a group of people who are sitting on the kerb minding their own business will probably get you laughed at.
And if you are having a problem then you call the 5-0. :D
 
I think it's a bit sad that people drink in the street really. But at the same time it doesn't bother me that much if they don't behave antisocially or litter the streets with their cans or bottles.

It is kinda not right i think, that's the thing though - they are more likely to behave antisocially and possibly litter the street when they are drunk.
Most of the street drinkers are homeless people, drug addicts, alchoholic and vaigrants anyway.....Oh and a few of them are chavs too. :D
 
I have to say I feel bad for saying this but there is something a little "common" about doing it or certainly a bit "teenagery" about it...
 
I think that it's only in designated "public spaces" that it is illegal; around here, there are notices stating that "you are now in a designated public space " etc the fine is up to £500 :)
 
I guess it depends where you live, most people i see drinking on the street are grown ups but have an appearance of a vaigrants (sp?)

Here's an easy way round it - Put it in a paper bag or put it in a can of diet coke and call it Jesus Juice like Micheal Jackson did!

I know what you mean, and I agree. It's almost as if people like this have no self-respect.

even if youve got it in 30 russian dolls, if the actual bottle or can is open they will pour it away
 
In Scotland it's all down to local councils - for example in St Andrews you can be fined on the spot for drinking in the street... a good few hundred pounds I think!
