looking to swap out my c: which is currently a 120 gig Samsung 840 for a 240 gig Samsung 840

now is this going to be a pita reinstall type scenario with all the faff of reactivating windows etc?(windows 8)

or can I just clone one drive to the other then swap the boot order round in bios?

any thoughts or even better suggestions on a nice simple bit of software to clone one to the other

I did pretty much the same thing, OCZ Vertex 450 128GB to a 250GB Samsung 840 Evo. I used Acronis True Image, it may have come bundled with your SSD. Disconnect any extra drives apart from the original one and the one you are cloning to before starting the process :)

Acronis True Image is great, install it, set your options, restarts your PC and has a cool little interface while the cloning is going on. Pretty faultless for me when I did it :)

use samsungs own data migration tool to clone with

you might have to re activate windows, not 100% sure though
