I'm just having a play around with how mapping drives work and I want to know how I can find out the list of folders which I ahve shared on my pc. I am running Vista.

Also when I make a new drive mapping, I click the browse button and click once on network to show all the pcs but there seem to be loads showing, even ones that are either turned off or not even connected to our home router.

Any help would be most appreciated

Thanks

Regards,
Neil

Open Network & Sharing center and at the bottom of the window there should be a link to "Show me all the files and folders I am sharing"

As for the other PCs on the network, not sure. Do you recognise and can account for all of them? Are you on a secure network?

I am on my home network. The list now seems to be showing only the correct pc's

Also, if I set a folder to be shared so I can map it as a drive from another pc. How can I secure it so that only specific pc's can map it and not others

How do you view all the shared items on an xp based machine?
