Anyone seen/heard about this movie?
Release is Friday 23rd September 2011 over here.

Basically has been doing the festival rounds and knocking up a healthy supply of awards, all the critics are going mental about it 9s and 10s flying out the gate....and looks really awesome.

Its supposed to be exceptionally dark and gritty action thriller, Ryan Gosling takes the lead over from what was supposed to be Hugh Jackman (he went to do some ****** film about robots boxing) and according to sources delivers a Oscar worthy performance.

Has a pretty tasty cast to boot:

Christina Hendricks
Ron Perlman
Bryan Cranston
Carey Mulligan

some critic quotes:

At least half a dozen scenes are burned into my memory for life, including not one but two of the most jarring, heartbreaking juxtapositions of tenderness and violence this side of classic Kitano.
Part love story, part black comedy, and part crime thriller "Drive" is a film-lover's dream.
Drive not only met my hopes; it charged way over the speed limit, partly because it's an unapologetically commercial picture that defies all the current trends in mainstream action filmmaking.
:p

will be seeing on wednesday...looking forward to it already. im sure gf will be complaining about the ridiculous levels of violence in it at the end but meh il live...

Saw this last night, I loved it thought it was slow but methodical and had some great scenes in it, remind me a lot of collateral for some reason. The cinematography is amazing and id be surprised if this didn't at least get nominated for a few oscars

My mrs didn't agree who found it too slow, we had one guy that fell asleep and was snoring until I chucked a sweet at him lol, and there was a bunch of 18 year olds at ether back that couldn't help but cry for mummy after the film was finished as they didn't get it and found it ****.

I don't think the trailer did the film justice, as unless someone read up about it they would think its very action based..... The gore in it though when it does kick off is something else.

the opening 5 minutes are brilliant too, really well done. not sure why someone was kicking off about the pawn shop scene? thought it was really well done...i can understand the disappointment with the ending though.
