Drive - Movie Thread.

Great film. Hadn't really heard a lot about it, but really glad I saw it. A very dark, patient ascension to all out retribution and violence, while being a calm and compassionate badass.

9/10

If you don't think this film is violent then you definatly are desensitised. Everyone in the cinema I was in were wincing and gasping when the skull crush scene came on. Man I was too

i just sat and wasted an 1hr 39 mins

Drive is a good film with great visual flair, in the style of Elmore Leonard or Quentin Tarantino, and with a little of their natural gruesome gaiety and gallows humour. Gosling has charisma and presence, although his facial expression is often set to "sardonic". Yet I can't quite join in the widespread critical enthusiasm that has greeted this film

But the sound track to this is outstanding and not my type of music but good
Ryan Gosling is also very good in it

but i just cant say i enjoyed the movie

any of you guys seen it

People really think this film is gory?

Blimey I must be really desensitised to violence.

their are a few scenes which have been done extremely well, it was more realism i think the director was aiming for than what normally happens in movies.

in this movie you know the person has had their head blown off with a shotgun rather than in others it normally cuts away or shows you the person doing the shooting rather than the one being shot, also in other movies if you do see someone being shot by a shotgun its usually to the chest with next to zero blood or pieces coming off.

it wasnt a gore fest, but realism where it was needed. certainly not the most violent film ive ever seen or in the top 10, but it was really well done.

i dont think i have ever seen ryan gosling before, so would like to see if he can portray other types of characters well. so i don't know how good he was at acting or if that's the way he is normally but the character he played was extremely weird.

was a great film though overall, i watch movies every other day and this one surprised me. horrible bosses today for me, not had good reviews so im not expecting much from it, we shall see.

you could have stopped watching at any time, i do this quite often if i dont like the movie within the first 30 minutes.

I loved it, but for the gore, which I thought was unnecessary. I thought it was at odds with the rest of the film.

Other than that, 9/10. Great acting, script, soundtrack and shooting.

My film of the year so far, amazing from start to finish, it feels so subdued, then those bursts of crazy just made it what it is, stunning. I'll happily admit that I'm a little obsessed with it at the moment!

The soundtrack was spot on perfect too :)

I agree with what you say Sonny about the film, it was a lot more realistic violence as opposed to the over the top Hollywood style violence in other films.

It opted for style over graphic violence. It worked well, but to me it wasn't gory, it was just well directed violence.

I don't think I have explained myself very well. :o :(

Does anyone else feel like he could have been a character in GTA Vice City? Expansion pack with Scorpion jacket + the soundtrack from Drive? Take my money.

yea, Standard too!

Just imdb'd Carey Mulligan, surprised by her age, thought she was mid 30's.

And now you can look like Ryan Gosling too!

Was GTA themed the whole way through! Have a copy downstairs :)

It took 122k last night which is only 1% down on last weeks Orange Wednesday...excellent result!

strange film this...

Thought it looked, sounded and was directed very well. But in my mind seemed to be missing substance, somewhat as if it was the best film ever made - but with half the crucial scenes missing and replaced with quiet close ups of Gosling.
I'm not sure of the message it was trying to convey or what aspects to emote with - it just seemed bland and under developed.

For me, it just didn't deliver.

Hello Bleddyn,

Unfortunately do to the lack of screens we do not have the capacity to facilitate every film and this is the case with Drive.

However depending on how well it does we are currently looking into doing special screenings for award winning films in the future, however this is yet to be confirmed.

Kind regards,
