Drive recovery software - bootable?

Are there any software products I could use to test a drive which Im having problems booting into Windows with - even as a secondary drive the PC will crash with a BSOD.

So I think Ill need to boot from cd/floppy into DOS and check it that way.

Can you think of any products which would help?

Some hard drive manufactuors have a utility on their website. At least maxtor does.

Bah, doesnt support SATA drives

Ive used one of their apps with my sata drive.
