Ok, so after years of being an NV boy, my 5850 is coming today and I am moving over to the Dark Side :p

I'm on Win7 at the moment; what is the suggested route for getting the NV drivers off cleanly before installing CATs?

Or is it not so much of an issue because I am switching brands?

You could use Driver Sweeper, although some people on here suggest not to use it, due to it not being compatible with Win7 etc..but ive never had any problems.
Sometimes it can be a problem switching from ATI > Nvidia or vice versa.

Or just uninstall like normal > restart > then install the ATI Drivers.

Id do a reinstall of windows to be safe, ive just done a removal of the Nvidia drivers, swapped cards, then installed the ATi ones before without a prob in the past, but ive always ended up doing a reinstall further down the line just to be safer, as you never know what probs could crop up, and i wouldn't chance Driver Sweeper, as it doesn't work properly, can sometimes remove stuff needed, or leave stuff behind, so you can't get any gfx card drivers at all on, so have to do a reinstall to fix (which is why i stopped using it).

Do nothing, Windows 7 will hapily have 2 sets of drivers on there, if it doesnt detect the card it wont load the nvidia drivers simple as

I've always thought this, you have way more drivers installed in your system than parts you will ever use, whats the problem with leaving nvidia drivers in? surely they will only be used if a supported card is found?

So Plan A sounds like just uninstall the nvidia drivers, and probably MSI afterburner to be safe. Then install the card, install the CATS and re-install Afterburner.

Thanks for the advice. Thats tomorrow night sorted out.

Drop the "e" when adding ing ;)
if we're going to moan at him for spelling, plural of 5770 is just 5770s, no apostrophe; 'I' should be capitalised and probably other stuff.... moaning at silly spelling mistakes on forums is just silly :)

oh yeah, component for your sig ;)

yup, doing more is silly.

Uninstalling the drivers will do fine but, as already stated, they can coexist just fine. I know this as I was using my old 8800GT as a PhysX card with the modded drivers and didn't have any issues.
