Driver Demo

Went up on Xbox Wednesday, no?

I found it a very odd concept jumping from car to car, seems a little out of place in the game. Graphics were very good and smooth, handling a bit iffy.

Yea, the jumping was a very odd twist and seems a strange thing to do. I thought it would have made the game a little too easy in the long run...

Get chased by police, take over all of them and cause havoc, change back to main driver, boost away, job done...

In car view was pretty well done!

Didn't think much of it really. Graphically it's rather pretty and the licensed cars look good, but the voice acting and dialogue were utterly atrocious and the vehicle handling reminded me of Colin McRae Rally, there's just no grip at all.

Also, when Tanner 'shifts' into another car, who's driving the car he just left behind?

This game just screams of desperation from an age old franchise to try and grasp back some territory from the severe shafting it got at the hands of the GTA Dreadnaught.

I thought the same about the shifting, although didnt think about doing it to cop cars and was getting anoyed at how quickly they catch up lol.

The graphics were nice, and i thought the handeling was quite good to 4 wheel drifts in the R8 were good fun.

One thing that annoyed me was the constant talking between Tanner and whatshisface during the escape from the police mission.

Just wouldn't shut up.

well hes in a coma so he can do whatever he wants , the world is basically a dream world.

I thought it was brave to put a demo out, I wasn't expecting much from it, but it's now on my buy list.

After Driv3er it took me a while to buy any game again, let alone a driver game! That really was awful.

+1

i took it back to game hoping to get a full refund, they told me i missed the full refund date by a day or two, and they offered me like half of what i paid for it, i was so disgusted with the game i accepted.

is this one like the original?

the original was one of the best games ever made, driver 2 was slightly worse, driv3r was one of the worst games ever made from a series.

Tried it on Wens and unfortunately my suspiscions have been confirmed - its a bag of balls. The missions are timed, the graphics are awful and the handling is like trying to steer an oil rig with wheels round a racetrack. Such a shame, I was hoping this game was going to be good, but after seeing some horrendous gameplay videos and then playing the terrible demo I think I'll give it a miss. Although I would have got it on console Ubi Drm is the final slap in the face, and I don't wish to support a company that punishes its loyal customers while giving an incentive for piracy and then unbelivably has the cheek to say its "Drm is a success". It beggars belief.

It looks very similar to TDU in terms of graphics and hud, judging by the above poster it seems the handling is the same as well. How hard is it for them to bring back the driving physics of the original game? Modern day graphics with good physics = win.

Didn't think it was that bad as some people tbh. The graphics are ok - they're not the best, but they're acceptable, and it's 60fps which is always a bonus for me.

Must admit that while I couldn't cope with the external view (it did feel heavy), it was totally fine for me from the full screen and cockpit views, though I nearly always prefer that to a 3rd person view. With rare exceptions (Burnout, Outrun), 3rd person car views never feel right imo.
