Where does Windows put these drivers?

I had some CD image software which didn't work and crashed XP. I removed the software in safe mode but it put some drivers in which I can't seem to find and remove!

They always appear in my "Event log" but I can't seem to find them (e.g. in the Registry). Any idea where they might be lurking?

Dunno if they are here but try:

Go into the Device Manager.
Click "View > Show Hidden Devices"
Scroll down to Non Plug and Play devices and it may be in there.

Alternatively if it was a software using a cd emulator (a la Daemon tools etc...) then it may show up under DVD/CD ROM drives as a hardware item.

Thanks Bobbler

- Hidden devices seems to show hundreds (I exaggerate) of other devices - presumably a life history of my PC.

It showed:

So I have deleted this - after I have rebooted later will look at event log.

Yes - but it was an earlier Alcohol version that I found after loading that didn't work with XP and caused the BSOD.

Well, I have deleted the SCSI controller but I still get the same boot up message!

Further thoughts anyone?

You can try the following using the sc command in a dos window. This allows you to configure services and boot drivers from the command line.

sc config xmasbus start= disabled
sc config xmasscsi start= disabled

I cant really say if that will do the job off hand without messing around with my system...those files exist on my box but they dont appear to be running at all anywhere, but it wont cause any harm.
