I have a MS MCE remote on my XP machine, which has the drivers and is working fine. Through its wisdom, windows wants to install a Microsoft eHome MCIR 109 keyboard as well (i have a logitech kb/m combo on standard windows drivers - also working fine).

Now does anyone:

a) Know how to stop it adding new hardware at startup (for this item only)
b) Know where I can get the drivers ?

The drivers seem to be in a MS MCE2005 Rollup, which i cant install obviously, nor can they be extracted from the exe (winrar cant anyway).

Any ideas ?

run windows update, that might pick them up?

i've not tried my mce hardware on xp home/pro, only on xp mce, and vista

Fully updated :)

One thought - It asks me to insert XP disc and navigates to x:/i386 and wants to add kbdjpn.dll ... but this isnt on my disc, so I'm wondering if its on the MCE disc ?

EDIT - sorted - added kbdjpn.dll and kbd106.dll which are apparantly japanese language files.

that's dumb...

was going to ask what files it was looking for, would have put them in a zip file for you :)

It installs the drivers for the keyboard as the dongle is used for both the remote and keyboard (the keyboard doesn't even come with its own dongle - you have to buy the remote), which explains why it was asking for the keyboard's drivers. :)

The driver files are indeed on the XP MCE 2005 disk, and updated in the MCE Rollup 2 as I remember. I think I've seen them cobbled together as a separate download by someone somewhere for standard XP machines too - they're not available from Microsoft.
