I've already posted about this in another forum, but this one gets more traffic so I thought I'd give it another go :)

Basically, I don't know if the issue is my ATi drivers or the monitor drivers....or something else entirely.

The wife's PC has a Sony 200PS CRT on the end of an X700 Pro PCI-E - it's been fine since I built it nearly a year ago, but I reformatted last night cos it was getting sluggish. Now I've hit problems...

Essentially, I can't get WinXP to recognise the monitor properly. I can manually point the monitor to the drivers (and I've tried two different versions) and it then looks like it works, and it gives me a selection of refresh rates, but it's always stuck on 60Hz no matter what I choose. I select 100Hz and it seems to think it's done it, but it's still at 60Hz and flickering like crazy even tho now it says 100Hz  . Also, whatever refresh I try I can tell it's not really doing it - the monitor doesn't click or switch at all.

Then, in the ATi Catalyst Control Center it doesn't recognise the monitor either - it just shows as "default VGA monitor" and doesn't give me any info on the monitors capabilities. I can force the Cats to run at 100Hz but the same thing happens - it thinks it's done it, but it's still obviously flickering away at 60Hz.

I've tried two different versions of the Cats, two different versions of the Sony drivers and even a complete re-install of Windows and I can't solve it. I remember when I built the machine I had no problems.

Any ideas?

EDIT: Sorted. Had to use old Cats without the stupid control center.
