Donington Historic Festival Statement: It is with great regret that the directors of Donington Park Racing Limited, operators of Donington Park Circuit, have to report that, following an accident in a race for historic touring cars held as part of the race meeting taking place on Sunday 5th May, the driver of car number 67 (a 1965 Mini Cooper S), Christian Devereux of Chiswick, London succumbed to the injuries sustained at approximately 16.30 hours.

The organising race club, HSCC and Donington Park Racing Limited, together with the circuit’s medical and emergency services, will now be co-operating with both the Leicestershire Police and motorsport’s Governing Body, the Motor Sports Association, in order to determine the cause of this tragic accident.

RIP :(

Very Sad.

Were you there today Housey?

The race had a big grid and all the racing was clean and uneventful up until that point. There were only a few mins left of a 1hr race when the accident happened.

It must've happened in the last few laps of the pre 66 touring car race, it was evident that is was serious judging by the fact they swiftly stopped the really display inside the GP loop so the ambulance could attend and the air ambulance. Still didn't stop some cretins moaning about the races ending early and thinking about asking for a refund, I hope they feel bad now. I think it happened at the esses but fortunately I moved elsewhere to get ready for the group C race, not something I wanted to witness. Anyway, RIP :(

You knew it was bad when the pre'66 touring car race was stopped early and then the air ambulance arrived not long after. I was down by the last chicane so I didn't see the accident.
