Hi folks, i have recently acquired a 30" Dell U3011 Monitor to replace my old 19" CRT monitor, it's connected to 2 X Gigbyte HD7970 3GB Graphics Cards in Crossfire. Now this is my problem, when i uninstall graphics drivers the screen display goes blank and stays blank several minutes later, this leaves me with no option but to reset my PC. When my PC reboots the drivers have been removed.

Does this normally happen with this type of monitor? When removing grapics drivers on my old CRT rig the screen would revert to a basic Windows 7 display within a couple of minutes. Do i simply have to allow more time for the monitor and PC to sort themselves out? Advice please!

I didn't have any issues with my U2711.

If you hard reset does it at least show the bios screen? Could try hooking it up to your mobos on board graphics port temporarily? It might have reverted back to that without drivers.

Have you tried another connection on the graphics cards or another display? might have an issue with the 30" until you have the correct drivers?

Sorry for the delayed reply, i've contacted Dell tech support and awaiting response.
maybe i just need to drop the resolution down to a more managable 800 x 600 before uninstalling old drivers? I'll find out when the full 12.11 drivers surface.;)

How are you connecting the screen to the graphics card? Is it displayport?

Mine does the same thing (Dell u2312HM) when I uninstall the AMD drivers. It is connected by displayport. It doesn't bother me that much really but you could try connect by HDMI or DVI and see if the issue is still there.
