Ive just been asked to format a brand new laptop with a fresh copy of XP. Its near enough out the box and comes with vista pre-installed onto the notebook.

Ive gone to the manufacturers website only to find vista drivers are available, why is this and is there any way around this?

Goto the hardware manufacturers sites.

S3/SIS for the video.
Realtek for the audio.
SIS for the motherboard/onboard LAN.

what about wifi drivers? Im slightly confused as to how I find the audio drivers from the realtek site, is there just a common driver that suits the majority of machines?

What wifi card does it have?

Most likely the 8187 from Realtek. I should imagine their site also has the drivers.

The Realtek High Definition Driver contains the driver for your audio. Currently version R2.13.

Its a realtek wireless controller so ill go to realtek for that as well.

Just to confirm, the hardware manufacturers will have drivers for both xp and vista?
