Hi all,

I've been assembling a PC that I thought would be easily powerful enough to run all games at or near max. It's based around i5 750 @ 3.6Ghz, GTX590, 8GB Ram and SSD.

But now I've come upon what appears to be a fairly ordinary (in graphical terms) game that doesn't run well at all: Driver San Francisco. I have V sync on and it's settled on the 25fps level, which is noticeable choppy.

Anybody know what's going on with this?

Cheers

When i installed driver it always ran at 24p ie 24fps.
I game at 1080p so alt enter so it runs in a window and it should fix it for ya :)

Edit : i dont think changing the config works iirc but you may have to make the game boot in a window instead of alt enter as its booting.

It should do mate yes but im sure i remember trying everything and in a almost full screen window was the only way i could force 60fps. Its a almost game breaking bug and the developers should be ashamed they didnt notice it.

Wow - I'm seriously considering throwing my PC on a fire now. Little potted history:

1st game: Dirt 3. Didn't install several vital dll files rendering inoperable until I found and downloaded these manually.

2nd game: GTA 4: Need I say more? Ran choppily no matter what. No AA.

3rd game: BF3: Kept locking up whole system; would only work with a beta driver.

4th game: Driver San Fran: Extremely badly ported with near game breaking graphical bug.

Is it me or is PC gaming a bag of ****?

Gta im afraid mate runs crappy no matter what pc you have and ive seen it on the best sytems.
All the dirts have always been fine for me and so has bf3 albeit with the odd flickering texture.
Stick with driver though mate its a easy fix and quite a fun little game.

And never give up on pc gaming bud as there are some fantastic games out there which run flawlessly ;)

Its sloppy programming, its because with a hdtv the first res detected is 1920x1080 @24hz. The game and others (Crysis) wont detect the other refresh rates or let you change it manually.

Cheers guys - I'm 4 for 4 though on games that haven't worked properly so I'm having severe doubts (especially considering the cost relative to a console). Anyways I'll see if the windowed mode fixes the problem.

Go for witcher 2 if its your sort of game mate it looks great and runs great too :)

Ohhh and street fighter 4 arcade edition too i love that on the pc

Ah, its that undercover detective freeroam driving game/fantasy role playing story focused rpg connection.

Yes I reccomend Witcher 2 also, you're bound to love it going by your love for driving games.

Some weird cr@p up with this - my LCD TV is 1080P (Toshiba 32LV713B) yet the nvidia driver reports it as native 720p - Although it will run at 1080p.

If I try to run driver windowed at 1080p i only see the corner of the window with most of it off the screen and big bits of the windows desktop visible too. But at 720p it near enough perfectly fills the screen.

Not sure what's up with that.

Id suggest its the 590 that may be the issue. I know that nvidia needs to keep up with gaming driver support for this card because of the single slot SLi situation and drivers need to be coded to work more efficiently for these types of card. Are you using the latest drivers?
