Hey all,

Just wondered on your thoughts on driver updater software. I don't really have time to search everywhere to ensure I have all the latest drivers, especially the more techy and obscure ones.

I'm trying 2 at the moment Ashampoo Driver Updater and dUMO and both give different outcomes!!

So, is this kind of utility worth it? Are they safe to use? Do they do the job?

Finally, are there any recommendations? I don't mind paying for one if its going to do the job well.

Thanks in advance

I sometimes use snappy driver installer
Free no adverts
Don't have to do each driver separately
May not have the most polished looking interface though
Can choose to only download the drivers needed for
The system you're using it on
Or can download a huge and I mean over 15gb last time I looked
Set of drivers
Or select say only ethernet and WiFi drivers section etc
And save to usb portable drive
Great to use on other pcs especially if they have no Internet
And yeah most of these types of programs
May find different results from each other it's all
Going to depend on what database of drivers they use

I would recommend not using any driver updater software as there is a chance that any supposed updates are not compatible with the hardware and at worse can cause constant blue screens on boot

And this is from someone who has only used SDIO.

Even official drivers from nvidia ,amd etc
Aren't guaranteed to be trouble free
As always you should have an image backup just in case
Any issues I can restore a 40gb compressed macrium backup
Takes under 3 minutes on m2 nvme drives

Windows update covers 95% of driver updates. It even does bios/firmware updates now. It's only fails on the more obscure stuff.

As above windows update will normally get you drivers, although sometimes they're a little behind the 'cutting edge' releases.
