Driver Updates

After a bit of a battle of my aging pc i managed to get a factory reset on it, but only problem now is im a bit lost on updating it to the latest drivers?, is there a program out that preferably free that will show me the latest updates for my pc, i remember seeing a few about

Is it a manufacturer like Dell, HP etc? As you can just put the model number into their website to get all the drivers. If you need the latest you can then go to the manufacturer of each one you want to update, i.e Realtek for sound drivers.

Mine is a dell, but after using the website, the latest driver update is from about 2008

2008 should be fine. What's the laptop model?

Its a desktop and the model is a dell xps 420

Its only the graphics card drivers you really need to update in that case. Grab them from ATI or Nvidia website.
