What are the recommended drivers for the 7950? I have a strange problem with mine. Everytime I run a java application (and my uni site is full of it) when I close the browser the java process doesn't go away. Never did this before until I upgraded the GPU. Tried it on stock speeds too.

The latest ones per AMD's website. I forget the code name but they are dated 25th Jan 2012.

This should be the link:

http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/RC11Driver.aspx

8.921.2 RC11 is the codename for it.

If that doesn't work then use the drivers that came on the disc when you got the card (11.12 I believe).

Thanks, I'll give those a go. Have already tried both the ones on disk and the ones the AMD site (Which says 11.12 too).

Java process? Are you sure your issue is the graphics driver and not Java? What exactly do you mean with "java process doesn't go away"? :)

java.exe*32 to be exact in task manager. The java icon in the notification area goes away when I close the browser, but the exe itself still seems to be running in the background, and still uses some CPU power. I have tried reinstalling it, both 32-bit and 64-bit, but it's still there. And yes, I'm using Win 7 64-bit. This problem has only started happening after I upgraded my 6850 to a 7950.

Uninstall Java, wipe all AMD GPU drivers/files/reg entries etc, reboot and try to reinstall the AMD drivers, if it prompts for Java reinstall.

Seems fine. Guess I'll wait to see if later driver versions help. If not, then I'll try a reinstall of Windows (Been meaning to anyway to properly set up RST). The problem is not bugging me that much since killing the process only takes a few milli seconds.

12.2 preview drivers have solved my problem :) The java.exe*32 still hangs around after I close browser but it now goes away after a while.
