Drivers needed

I will soon be building a PC with an Asus A8N SLI S939 motherboard and Maxtor SATA hard drive. I have been told that I will need a driver floppy during the installation of Windows XP but that Asus do not supply this. Having browsed their site I am still at a loss as to what exactly it is that I will need, so am wondering if you might point me in the right direction please.

I apologise if this is in the wrong area of the forum. This is my first build and I am as yet unfamiliar with the specifics.

Thanks

Lee

I've never needed to use a floppy disk when installing XP, just put your XP installation CD in the drive and it'll boot straight into the installation.

Just make sure you use the nVidia SATA ports rather than the SiL ones otherwise you will need the SATA drivers on a floppy disk.

Apparently it's because the hard drive is SATA that I *might* need the floppy. Thought I'd rather be safe than sorry as I will have no web access on the day of the build.

Well there's only four SATA ports on that board so they'll be nVidia, that means you won't need any drivers for your hard drive.

I have no idea how you came to that conclusion (IE - I have a total lack of knowledge) but trust your judgement, so thanks.

Lol, well on the boards like the SE (The one your getting), there's four SATA ports. They'll be controlled by the nVidia chipset. With the boards like the deluxe that have eight SATA ports, the four extra ports will be controlled by the SiL south bridge.
