What is wrong with the PC manufacturers nowadays?! They seemed just cannot supply a working driver from their websites!
To add the insult to the injury, almost all the drivers websites are running at fantastic lightning speed of a dialup connection!
Yesterday, I was installing a logitech 5000 pro webcam driver I have downloaded for my friend's PC and the hardware wizard box comes up, it says it couldn't find a specified driver file. I browse it to logitech driver folder but there is nothing in it. I put the filename in search box and nothing comes up!
So I asked friend if she has logitech CD and she has (thankfully), so at last, the file is found from CD and drive installation was done. Never mind, one off I thought so...
Next, I was doing the Windows XP installation and when completed, I went to ASUS website for drivers but it was very slow and sluggish so I changed over to SIS website, again, slow! Slightly bit better, I processed to download each driver, they are all downloading at the snail speed. It was oblivious to me that all manufacturers drivers site are all very slow and sometimes struggled to load the pages! What is wrong with them?!
Sometimes I even wondered myself if it has to do with the PC I was installing XP on or my internet connection problem but neither of them.
Next, a driver I was installing is SIS C-Media Audio driver and it went well. However, I found one on Windows Update site so I decided to install it instead and when completed, there is a question mark in device manager! I just remember that I have seen this same problem on other computers so I went back to SIS driver and the problem disappeared! Can't trust a signed driver from Microsoft site!
The last straw today, was Lexmark! As there is no CD for it (friend's useless at storing computer related stuffs!) so 'no problem' I thought so and I went to Lexmark's site (again slow!!!) and then I was having some problem trying to download the driver and all is because of Lexmark's poor method of download facility! I managed to find the other way around this problem and got it downloaded (of course, in snail slow speed!). I then run this driver installer and a screen comes up telling me to plug in the printer and powered it on, so I did. A couple of hardware wizard windows pop up and I browsed it to a suitable folder and then the third one, there is NO suitable driver file any where in this system AND Lexmark's driver folder!!! I went like 'YOU WHAT?!' and having come across few drivers problem in the space of 24 hours, how ******* retarded is that?!
It's similar to Logitech driver problem but this time, it doesn't say what specific driver file it is looking for! The only way to get this problem sorted is find Lexmark driver CD!!
Why can't the manufacturers do the simple job needed - supplying a PROPER driver that WORKS on their websites!
Rant over!
