Okay so tomorrow my new parts are going to arrive (first parts actually since it's my first actual rig) and I will be putting everything together. Since I've always had laptops I am not 100% sure how many drivers are there for a desktop PC.

I know about the GPU, chipset, audio, LAN, SATA RAID/AHCI, VGA. Is there anything else I'm missing in here?

assuming you're building a new pc entirely, most important drivers will come with motherboard, use cd or prepare and dl newest drivers now + latest bios if you got a older board and newer chip.

things you will need fresh after installing os, assuming w7, for obv reasons, w8.1 will have most drivers preinstalled.

for w7, you'll need your chipset drivers, lan and IGP. assuming you're getting a gpu with it, dl latest drivers for that before hand. once you get chipset, lan and gpu installed, you can focus on lower prio drivers i.e. sound(probably biggest pain in the ass if you got a pci card) etc.

That's about it really, not as complex as laptops by far with 10+ separate unique drivers. all you really need is gpu, lan, most of time chipset isnt necessary but worth installing, sound and then mouse, keyboard, camera, front io.

Good luck

Ok great to know I got everything I need :) And Yes Pr3d4t0r, it is a brand new build ( the one in my signature ).

Another question I have to ask is about the Windows 8.1 installation. Since I didn't get a CD-Rom for my build, I will have to do it with an USB.

Do you guys know any good ways of installing it besides the program offered by Microsoft on their website ? :P (Windows 8.1 is supposed to come with a DVD since I didn't want to go full Jack Sparrow with a new rig like this :D )

Err.

If you can get a ISO image, extract it using winzip/winrar.

Then place the individual files onto a large enough USB stick and boot from that (make it the first boot device in the BIOS).

So these files,

See above.

Basically dump the individual files from an ISO onto USB stick.

What you may find after the install is it does a "restart in 10 sec" warning, restarts, then starts the install all over again.

So either pull the USB drive out immediately when it restarts, or sort the BIOS boot order out so the SSD/HDD it was just installed onto is now 1st.

Okay I got it now :P So there's no need for the program Microsoft is showing off on their website really.

Just copy the files from the DVD onto USB, sort the BIOS so it boots from the usb first and then install everything on the SSD.

Yes.

And only have the SSD installed at that time.

Then once you are in windows and everything seems good.

Turn off, fit the SATA cables or power cables to the rest of the drives so they are seen.

If you do add a new HDD for storage and its a new drive it may not appear until you format it/assign it in disk management.
