Driveways + Blocking

First off, I'm not trying to be obstructive or to cause my neighbours any grief I'm just pre empting a situation.

Here is my amazing diagram.

Very simple, the black square is a now converted chapel and the car park is council owned free for anyone to use, fits about 7 cars which is plenty. Now, the chapel has a driveway on it's own grounds that requires it to cross the footpath, through the car park and on to the highway. Therefore I would be blocking their car in were I to park in the public space.
I've had a look about and as I understand it, if there is NO car on the drive, then I am legally entitled to park there as I am not obstructing their access to the highway, it would only be an offence if I parked there when there is a car on the drive?
They have two cars and I'd imagine it would make sense and be polite for them to park the second car infront of their own drive which according to Mother has been done. I can see it happening when it's the only space left and before I go and obstruct their drive I wanted to make sure I wasn't doing anything illegal. Obviously it would antagonise the neighbours but needs must.
Appreciate any advice.

As I said, I'm not doing it on purpose nor do I intend to when I can avoid it but I'm not going out of my way to park further away from my house if I can legally park there.

It's not the entrance though, it's the driveway, I do believe these are treated differently. I'm not worried about annoying them yet, they may well be cooperative.

Turn a negative into a positive. I park away as far as I can from where I work so I can walk in for the exercise. I always leave space on my drive for others for the same reason.

We're talking a minimal amount of distance here, I'm just being pedantic.

Don't be a ****.

I'm not yet, but if they insist on taking up two spaces instead of one then it's game on.

is there a drop kerb on front of the entrance?
if not then you can park along the kerb as long as you are not causing an obstruction on the road or there are no yellow lines

No sir, it's in rather an odd place, it is level with the pavement/path that is level with the carpark and road. The space directly infront of their drive is still the public carpark.

this may sound silly but.
is this space marked as a parking place? ie, white lines
or usually if you are not allowed to park in that bay, they will have diagonal yellow lines painted in the bay

I live in a village that is notoriously difficult to get planning permission in for anything. There are no lines anywhere. I say car park it's really just an off road area where people park and is there to function as such. Might be easier if I get a picture. When the websites back up I'm going to check to see if they got permission for the driveway first, but considering the owner of the house I expect that to be fine.

Expect a keyed car then more than likely.

Not that sort of place I live in. Plus my car is a POS, he'll be more annoyed when I return favour to the Range Rover and Mini ;)
It won't come to that, I'm going to get them round for a coffee and see if I can get him to give us a discount to extend our driveway (he owns a reputable building company) and then all is good. As I said, this thread was more for the curiosity not the fact I've set out to make anyones life difficult.

 :o You do not live in Bath!

I might change my location to Bath - chose Wiltshire instead of Trowbridge for erm, well, you live close enough to understand ;)

Nobody has heard of my village so I chose the closest "big" city. Trowbridge isn't so bad, well I wouldn't want to go on a night out there anymore but yeah I hear you. I work in Trow ;)

As I said before I'm really not pursuing this to be an idiot (although it seems the majority ignored that part so I had to humour the little darlings). It really is a curiosity and I'm going to just pop round and ask them I think.
Interesting points you raise though, I'm not sure it's classed as wasteland, it used to be parking for people attending the chapel but it was also there just as parking for nearby residents.
Is there not a way I can view deeds or are they personal to relevant owners and the council? The planning website is down for my area so I cannot see whats going on in that respect.

So are you sure the council owns it? If it was for the chapel parking maybe it was church owned and they either still own it or the new purchaser owns it?

I need to get my terminology right but it's either owned but the the parish or council, but I get the two confused and don't understand either role. It used to be grass but was converted to allow parking, I recall hearing it was classed as a verge perhaps.

Why are you asking us these redundant questions? Call the council and/or CAB.

Two reasons, firstly I like to post general discussion in the general discussion. Secondly, it gives people an excuse to act macho on the internet with their replies.

That could have comedy Value...

Noxia: Hello Neighbour, i just popped around to tell you if you're out I'm going to park on the council car park in front of your gate so you cant get into your drive.

Neighbour: You mean our land out the front we let people park on? I don't think so, oh, and by the the way you're specifically forbidden to park anywhere on our land at all now. Have a nice day.

Noxia: But, but I've been all Alpha about this on an internet forum, what will they think of me now. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

GD: Pwned lol :D

Would be funny but going to happen, if you think my posts are Alpha then you have no idea what it means :D On a serious note, I cannot tell if some of these posts are being purposely ironic or not.

"If, however, you just want to post easily fixable non-issues on a computer forum then go ahead, I guess." Bonus points for summing up GD.
