In Forza, turn the suggested line on in the difficulty settings. The coloured guide shows you the braking point, red = slow down, green = fine.
Basic racing concepts = brake, turn for the apex (peak) of a corner then accelerate out. Start off with a front wheel drive slower car at first and turn all aids on if you prefer then slowly work off the driving aids (bar the suggested line).
Once you start taking the stability, traction and braking aids off, yo need to learn to use the controls a littler easier. You don't just pull on the brake trigger then throw on the power trigger, you need to be progressive and some cars are better than others. Don't pic anything American in Forza otherwise you'll be in tears within an hour of epic fail.
If you do manaul gears, you also need to time when to drop down a gear. If you drop down too quick the revs will go sky high and encourage the car to try swap ends or become unstable.
Once you're happy you've got it going on, wack in some AI and turn off the driving aids. You can always use the AI to get an idea of braking points and follow their lines although it's quite easy to be much faster than them.
