Want to learn how to drive soon and was wondering, would it be a good idea to have 2 lessons a week or just have one a week?

I also know someone who could also show me some driving techniques as well and teach me (for free, not instructor though) and he might possibly let me practice in his van (transit though so quite big) after a few lessons.

Ah, was thinking of having two one hour lessons, one on a saturday and one on the sunday.

Might just have the 2 hour jobbie now though maybe.

Mom doesn't drive and don't live with / talk to my dad so

Guy I work with though has a van I reckon he'd let me drive a little in.

I'd be paying £15 for an hours lesson but maybe a little less than £30 if I were to have 2 hour lessons.

I have one lesson a week and its plenty :) but I get private practice as I already own a car...

PS, prolly better in the motors forum, you'll probrably get a better response :)

Doh!

I knew there was a motors forum here, just completely crossed my mind to post it there.

Move it home please Rotty. :D

As they said above, if your really confident like me :P then just do an hour or so.

Well I do tend to understand things quite easily so maybe just the one will do and I could bump up to two once I get near my test?

Sounds a little low to me, make sure the instructor is fully qualified, a lot of the cheaper ones are still learning themselves and may not know all the tricks to help you pass.

To be honest i don't think it would help practising in a transit, they're so different from a car it might do more damage than help, 2 lessons a week is more than enough.

Ah, he is fully qualified, he normally charges £17 but for those in the local area £15.

I had it put to me that 2 hour lessons are inefficient - your concentration peaks at about 40ish minutes on average and so for the final stages of the 2 hours, you arent really taking in anything.

I had 9 1 hour lessons plus driving about with my parents and passed first time.

Good to here, think the plan is to do the one hour lessons then and just see how it goes and bump them up if need be come nearer my test.

Now just to get the lessons sorted out now and an aim to when I want to pass. :D

Thanks for the help everyone.
