I currently have a Denon AVR-1910 paired with a set of Kef 2005.2 speakers, overall I've been happy with the set-up.

I've recently upgraded my TV, avoided 4K for the moment but I'm starting to get the itch to update my AV receiver because my existing one doesn't support 3D and has limited inputs etc.

I don't want to throw money away but I'm itching to buy a new receiver, but knowing it'll outlive the TV (I'm not upgrading to 4K for at least 3-5 years now) I want to make sure it's future proof. Particularly as far as HDCP 2.2 is concerned.... but it's whether I wait or drop the cash now, there are some serious bargains to have out there!

Other than HDMI ARC and 3D support I don't feel I'd be benefiting from much else if I do upgrade, I'm not changing my speaker setup for Dolby Atmos but I'm aware DTS:X can use my existing 5.1 setup so there is interest there. I'm thinking that these soundtracks are likely to be pretty much exclusive to Ultra Bluray though.

So it's coming down to, do I buy nothing, a cheap 'upgrade' £200-250 without HDCP/DTS:X, or drop £500 now for one that covers all bases?

I'd wait another year TBH. DTS.X is only available on a few models at the moment, it will trickle down to the basic models in the next few generations. Cheapest out there denonwise is this:

Spot on £500. as it gets older & towards the end of its shelf life, the price will drop.

FTR, I'd like a new AV Receiver too (In silver, more HDMI inputs & outputs, plus an android app to control it), I can't justify spending £500+ to replace my creaky old 2808 given how much use it gets these days, only when it goes bang it will be upgrade time. :)
