Hoping the learn from the vast wealth of driving experience available in this sub forum :)

My partner has been given a day for her test that her instructor can not attend.

Would it be possible to use his car (with his permission of course ;)) for the test without him being present?

I know he doesn't have to be in the car during the test but unsure if he needs to attend at all?

no he doesn't have to be in the car as such (during the test), though I'd assume the instructor would need to attend to pick her up for the test etc, so its more a question of access to the vehicle?

Her driving instructor is her brother-in-law so her sister would take her to the test in the car.

I just need to know if it's ok for him to be no where near the test centre at the time of the test. Would she still be insured in the car etc?

Provided he's happy with it and it's insured then of course, but the reality is that he's unlikely to want to lend his car to a student without him being there. Whether she'd be insured or not is entirely down to the instructors individual policy details, only he would know the answer.

You don't need to use his car - you can use any car provided you are insured and there is a removable mirror (Cheap from Halfords) for the examiner.

He's just got back to us

no public liability and my insurance will be invalid as my car is insured to be used with me in it teaching

So it's a no go.

Cheers all :)
