Crazy right?

Is it possible and has anyone done any sort of similar driving (very very long distance) I think its about 1500 miles. Ive done about 500 in one day.

The reason im driving is very crazy and urgent. Cant fly.

:p

Well unless you're actually on a terrorist watchlist or something and actually can't fly then you should do. You'll likely have all sorts of problems at borders and I suspect it's a bit further than 1500 miles...

1500miles is nothing much, if you have 2-3 drivers then it will take 30-36 hours. Anyone in North America does those kinds of journeys regularly

The place is in St Petersburg. I would obviously have to go to dover first. I would be there for about 3 hours. Not good.

Im going on my own in my Golf GTI Mk5 :/ eek.

Or flies. Longest I ever did in the states was LA to san fran with a few detours, took 12 hours or so including lunch with some friends. Anything further than that I flew...

I've been driven Bristol > Barcelona in just over 2 days. That was bad enough, trying to drive it on your own would be hellish I imagine.

Fear. I need to be in control.

Same as me then. I've looked into this. The crossings shouldn't be a problem as long as you have a passport and what have you.

I wouldn't recommend going it alone but apart from that go for it! It'll be an excellent experience. But remember you have to get back as well so it's 4000 miles and not 2000!

You'll likely need to allow a week or so if you plan on driving it all yourself. 500 miles takes 10 hours or so as a rough marker and you can't safely drive for that long 4 days in a row unless you're used to it.

You also need to look at visa's, how border controls work along the route, you run the risk of being harassed by the police in some eastern european countries and in russia.

It's a bad idea on your own, with at least one other person with you it'd still be a big undertaking.

Yeah its not looking good. I will have to just fight my fear. Its not that i dont like flying but its the feeling that YOU ARE NOT in control. This only applies to anything life threatning which flying is.

I dont think its going to be worth it. Hmm.

Make sure you get Boris from Snatch to go with you.
