Just wanted to tell people about dropbox.
It is a free service that after registering gives you 2gig (at first) of space to sync files between different computers thru the net.

You install a small programm on your computer and it creates a sort of shared folder where you can simply put stuff inside from Windows, Mac or Linux and then it is automatically uploaded on the internet folder.

If you are interested here is the url : www.getdropbox.com
If you are willing to register using my invitation use this link : https://www.getdropbox.com/referrals/NTcwMzY0MTk (this gives us more space)

do you work for them or something.. ?

seriously though, its a great service ive been using it for quite a while now

No I'm freelance!
I made a search and there was only one post and it was centered about online storage.
I did not know about it and I find it awesome for people that work etc... no need to use a usb key or something.

And it gives me more storage space if I get referals :p

no worries.. )

it is a great app. my only gripe is that there are no options between 2gb for free and 50gb for a fee

i would have liked something in the middle but apparently they are working on it.

i just use it for syncing uni work between main computer and laptop, great service and never had any problems with it!

Just a quick bump for this, I've been using this service for a few days and it really is good. I've set my mum up on it and using junction points i've been able to sync all her internet favorite over 3 computers :)

if she is using firefox you can also do this by using foxmarks

I have just started using Mozy.com - free for up to 2Gb then $4.95 a month for unlimited.
Site: http://www.mozy.com, or if you want to let me have something like 30c as being your referrer, then my link is: http://alturl.com/cze

Hey, 30c is 30c ;)

There is a coupon code for 10% off if you go for a 6 month or 12 month subscription - MARCH (how inventive that one is!!)

Had no problems with the software (Windows or Mac, no Linux unfortunately :() and you can schedule the backups or let the software do it all (default is it waits until your PC has been idle for 30 minutes and will then upload some files)

Will take a look at mesh in the morning. Looks good. Ive been using live sync for ages now. Great free app by ms. But both pcs need to be online to sync.

Sounds nice, I've got a load of photo's that I've already burned to DVD, but it's nice to have another form of backup...

IS there a way of uploading more than 1 file at a time to skydrive?

How did you do that? Since the internet favorites are in a specific folder you gotta copy them over everytime she modifies something?

Also thanks to the two guys, w00t, who registered using my referal ;)
