So I managed to drop and smash my HTC U11 Over the weekend the screen is cracked, and the nice shiny glass back of it is completely smashed, it is currently under a 24 month contract, with 12 months left...Long shot, but do they replace phones under contract if they get damaged? I dont think I took insurance out on this either :(

They won't replace accidental damage unfortunately, you'll need to pay unless your phone is covered under another insurance policy, home/bank account?

So interestingly I have just spoken to Vodafone, and they have said I am eligible for an upgrade? I checked my account online and yep, it says I can upgrade.... i checked the paper work and I it was a 24 month contract from June 2017.... Have they messed up or something?

They're probably letting you upgrade early? You're still paying off the device though so you either give them the phone back only if it's in good working order, or you have to pay a fee.

they will likely want you to pay off the rest of the contract before upgrading or something like that. you get nothing for free.

also lol for thinking anything is covered by warranty for when you smash it.

hi bmw, yes i just drove into a wall. can you come fix it for free plz, thanks.

hi lg, i just dropped my tv when i was moving it and it's not smashed. can you come give me a new one for free plz, thanks.

Check details of your contract - you can upgrade to a more expensive contract early but you might have to pay off a certain amount for the device, etc. they've been throwing around deals for existing members lately - I just got offered out the blue mid contract the option of upgrading for just £2.50/m extra to a package that nominally is £10/m more than what I was paying with an additional data allowance for free until I cancel or upgrade/change package when it will expire.

Have you looked in to fixing it? I'm not familiar with that phone, but I have repaired the screen on a phone last year on a nexus 5x wasn't that hard.

Well I spoke to a helpful girl at Vodafone, and I can upgrade for free, flexi-upgrade or something. Didn't have to pay anything off at all, she switched me to a new plan, so I've upgraded to a Samsung S9+, which is pretty sweet! Just had to pay a £30 upfront cost and that was it, not bad!
