My wife just text me to say she dropped her laptop....
She said the screen looks green and weird.
She sent these pictures. Do you think this is fixable at home? maybe a loose connection or something? Or is it likely more terminal?

The fact that the screen still works is encouraging - could easily be just the connector for the screen has come slightly loose (or the cable pinched somewhere).

Without knowing the make/model, hard to say how easy it is to check, but whilst you have it apart, I would also be checking to make sure all heatsinks are still securely fitted, as a jolt could have dislodged them and would cause more serious damage.

It's a Lenovo Thinkpad E520
Yeah...not the first time it's been dropped for sure. Plus its probably full of dog hair so worth dismantling.

I think you'll also need to remove the top case assembly which is a fair bit more work but shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes.

From my experience issues like yours are normally a case of the connector coming loose and all that needs to be done is unplug it and plug it back in. It helps that thinkpads are very well built as well.
