Hi All,

Looking for some laptop repair advice!

Had a nasty incident with my HP DV2530, slipped of the bed and took a knock,

The power button doesnt work, nothing happens when i press it but if i use the media centre remote it boots fine although the screen doesnt light, the image is there but not backlit.

I assume ill need to resolder a new backlight? Are these universal and ordered by length/width?

Also what would cause the power button to fail, just a broken connection?

the inverter cable on the left hand side may have come adrift. its located under the lcd bezel, remove screws and its clipped down , its fragile so take your time.
 
Update

Well like a pillock i got a new screen and same problem!

Im assuming the inverter was broken in the impact?

Ill try a new one of those, it works just fine on external display but will not switch on with the power button, but comes on ok with the media remote.

The volume touchpads do not work either so what could this be?

Do the power button and the volume keys interface with the same part of the mainboard?

Maybe i should try a new power button too?
