Its an Acer laptop.
It takes about a minute to get past the BIOS screen, unless I take out the hard drive, then its normal. And windows takes its time to load and is very slow in use as well.
I've plugged the seagate HD on another machine with a usb caddy and run the seagate diagnosis and it passes the extended test. It also passed the WD diagnosis.

I plugged in another HD into the laptop and it also takes about a minute to get past the bios.

So whats the problem and how to solve?

Thanks

sounds like you've dislodged the IDE cable, so it'll be running at uber low speeds, with loads of dropped data.

Would you feel comfortable opening it up, and reseating the IDE cable?

Hi SSWATS,
If you can provide me with a bit more detail on the model number of the laptop I can assist you more.

You're looking for the full model number on the bottom of the unit btw, usually ends in WLMI or something similar (not the model on the screen surround).

doubt it will have a cable will be fixed to the mainboard, maybe the cd drive has come adrift as its usually only one screw holding them in and the brackets are fairly flexable.
