Dropped monitor. Everything is red.

Help!

Everything displays fine, except it's displaying no blue or green. Only red.

Had a peek inside, no obvious wires hanging out anywhere. Is this likely to be:

a) A possible DIY fix

b) A shop fix

c) Fubared.

Dropped from a height? I will guess c but someone may well come along with a magic wand for you. Good luck!

Think it fell about 2 foot. The screen dislodged from it's housing slightly. So cables may have been yanked.

In my experience if the picture does not recover from a tap (slap!) to the sides of the screen or a slight flexing of it then c)

If there are no dead pixels and only blue and green are showing, it's probably a torn ribbon cable. But you may not be able to get to it without messing something else up even worse, or having a gigantic puzzle on your hands.

Since the screen still shows a picture and isn't cracked, yes it's fixable, but only by someone who knows how to disassemble, solder and reassemble these types of things.

Vega could probably fix it if you contacted him, but it would cost you, I bet. If you paid less than $200 for the monitor, just buy a new one. Then take that one apart to learn some new skills

p.s. If someone has a good source of info on the anatomy and fixing of monitors that'd be swell!
