Hi guys,

Right, absolutly had it to the teeth with bulldog, they have switched my package without asking many times and overcharged me in the region of £100+ which they wont respond to the emails (17) and phonecalls (12) over the last couple of months.

So i need a:
> low cost (~£25)
> Un capped
> reliable

Solution for my ISP

Anyone advise? :)

Hello mate,

I'm looking for something very similar to yourself and have been doing a bit of research into different providers.

From what I've found, AOL seem to be a good bet.

Also, Aquiss seem to be a new provider who are getting fairly good reviews, they are capped but it all looks quite reasonable:

Let me know if you find anything better, as I will probably go down the same route as yourself :)

I am in same situation, i am with orange currently who have given me nothing but ultra slow speeds aswell as disconnects lasting for upto 1-2 days past 3 weeks.must have only had 4 days where i could use internet during this time plus when it did work would pay £28 a month for 3mb max speed when it should be 8mb.

I am thinking of changing to either BE unlimited, Demon or Plusnet but have no idea what ISP would be most suitable for me.That one posted above looks decent too however i couldn't manage to find what modem they supply you with?

If that's all your line can do, you ain't going to get any better with any other ISP (other than NTL/Telewest/Virgin Media obviously).

Aquiss don't supply one, and Plusnet'll ask you to pay for it if you leave within five years (and they're soon to become BT, though that'll probably be an improvement).

Tolien the website samknows states my line can support 5.5mb or greater so surely i would hit at least that? (i am getting constant disconnects with orange that have just happened past few weeks, green adsl light flashing plus i've changed filters/power cycled modem/reinstalled drivers too yet no success)

Are BE any good? judging from what i've seen from adslguide aswell as dslzone they seem to get top notch reviews from the users.

It's only an estimate - certainly not binding, and not necessarily accurate (though without attenuation, SNR margin et al it's difficult to comment - it's possible you're getting 5.5Mbps sync without getting 5.5Mbps IP throughput).

If you're seeing loss of sync at what you've got, it would point towards you being at the limits of what you're going to get (or your internal wiring's dodgy).

Hello again,

Been doing some more browsing on the forums on ADSL guide. It seems that a lot of providers have their staff patrolling them for new business! :D

A true unlimited package is gonna cost a fair whack, but many providers are now offering large off peak caps and smaller caps for peak hours.

Here are a few more possibilities:

http://www.aquiss.net/broadband-comparison.php

They tend to be smaller companies and more flexible... like you're not tied into a contract and I think a couple of those have freephone customer support. A necessity in my opinion when you hear these horror stories of people being on hold for 45 minutes then getting cut off. Obviously, it would be preferable not to have to contact CS anyway ;)

Lots of people on OCUk still recommending AOL from another thread I was looking in the other day.

Have you made any decisions yet? I am moving next weekend and need to sign up to someone!

This is exactly what I have found while trying to find a suitable ISP.

I don't even want anything particularly special, just one that's not too expensive and offers a decent allowance per month (about 30gb would be fine by me!!!) But not oe with peak and off peak allowances.
