More than 150 professional footballers are likely to be playing under the influence of performance-enhancing drugs, according to a study carried out by the BBC.

A total disgrace:mad: If this is true, the players that are found guilty should be banned for life and their teams, if it is found that they knew about this and kept quiet, should pay massive fees!

From here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/3034491.stm

another shocking thing is that that 5.8% say they had advance warning of a drug test

that is disgracefull, clubs are telling players they are gonna get drug tests

I really hope people at the top level arent using them

the way Man U have been playing this year they better not test the whole team :p

especially ruud and scholes :p

I really hope no top class player hasnt been fooling around with drugs, it would tarnish the image of this game

It would explain spur's slump in form if they got delivered the wrong batch :(

Tbh there is no place in the sport for that kinda thing & I hope they name & shame those using em.

Mate , he was joking. He just said your sentence was a little confusing :p ! Hence the crude (;)) joke about your involvement with these banned drugs ;)

Carpy, STFU!! Learn to speak English. Whole point of forums is that other people understand what you are saying. I don't think one person on these forums can honestly say they understood your contribution.

I understood completely, but then again I can speak fluent late night beer gobbledeegook

I know this might be a bit off topic but when man utd sold jaap stam ive always thought that fergie must've known that he was taking performance enhancing drugs.

If he hadn't of known i doubt you would have ever sold him

i think stam left coz he said bad things about the players/manager in his book, fergie was very upset and it might of upset the harmony in the man utd camp

also stam admited fergie had tapped him up before approaching psv

its a disgrace that players can get away with this so easily... i mean in the last few years how many have actually been caught? stam, davids bosnich and thats about it... you cant honestly tell me that the drugs testing system works if its caught this few players... the fa need to introduce a lot more testing at all levels no one should be exempt... im talking about at least fortnightly or monthly testing for each club... i know it sounds not possible but it wouldnt actually take that much to do it, as these days clubs only get "random" if you can call it that, tested once every year or so and they usually know in advance...

though saying that how hard would it be for the club to pay off someone to make the test results magically disapear... personally i know two ex cov players who were involved in drug taking and im sure thats not the only two, and thats only a small club i couldnt imagine what its like at the top levels

something needs to be done and soon before it spirals out of control

It is too easy to get away with but it is also too easy to have your carrear ruined because of the hilariouusly innacurate tests, especially for nandralone, whihc does not even find traces of the substance that you have supposedly taken, just the enzymes that Nandrolone and many other things break down into.

I would harly call what Bosnich was taking performance inhancing, playing when out of your face on coke would be detrimental to your performance rather than enhance it.

performance enhancing drugs should get a lifetime or 5-10 yr ban

non-performance enhancing drug, from the day u are found guilty 1 yr ban (not like bosnich who can play in september but only was officially guility a couple months ago) and a BIG fine, im talking like 4 or 5 months wages. they should be made an example of.
