Hi all (well, the drummers)
I'm planning on laying down some drum tracks soon so I think it's time to have a fresh change of heads as I've had my ones on for over a year now - I don't play my drums that much as they are at home and not in Sheffield, and I give them a fresh tune up every time I go home, but it's time to replace them for recording I think!
My drums are made of birch (Gretsch Catalina Birch) and so I'm looking for slightly more focussed heads to match the tonality of the birch. I'm looking to replace both sides, so I'm thinking Evans EC2 over Evans G1/Resonant Heads for the toms and an Evans EMAD for the bass drum batter side.
My snare is maple (Pearl Masters MMX) so I was thinking about having a combination of Evans Genera Dry / Hazy 200 to keep a warm, clear tone with not too much in the way of overtones.
Any thoughts? I've always used Evans heads but I don't mind a dabble in Aquarian / Remo ones, I just don't know the types and their websites aren't nearly as informative as the Evans one.
Cheers!
