Hi,

I just ordered myself an Alesis DM6 drum kit. I've owned two real / proper kits in my time but living in a flat as I do, this is more practical.

I'm trying to find out where I can buy some drum backing tracks. YouTube is full of people drumming away to drumless music (well known tracks with proper lyrics). Does anyone know where to find this stuff?

Thanks!

I think the you tube guys just use a set of filters through something like audacity or cool edit / audition to remove the drum beats and/or just play over the top of the drums.

I just plug my iPod into the kit and play along to tracks, I find it actually helps to have the original there, especially when playing along to the likes of Dream Theater etc.

Using the advanced google query of 'audition remove drums from track' I've found that actually you may get only limited success doing that, but it works quite well to remove vocals...

Also some links came up for suppliers of drumless music.

And the suggestion to get the MIDI track of the song and mute the drums. Quality of course is dependent on your MIDI sample bank.

I'm planning to hook up both my amp & mp3 to the kit, so that I can play along to my favourite CD's and downloads.

I'll keep searching. Thanks for the pointers.

I just drum along to the song - no alterations. Some people try and tweak the drum track out of a song but I don't really bother...
