My house has had the attic converted many years ago. It has a proper stair case and two Velux windows so can be well aired. However, I find the air up there very dry and I can feel it affecting me. I wouldn't say I'm "that" susceptible to these things but I can't have A/C on in a car for very long as it gives me terrible cold like symptoms that can last for a few days. I believe it's caused by the A/C air being very dry.

It doesn't seem to affect my eldest daughter and she is wanting to use the room as her bedroom but the air quality is a concern. I would like to a try a humidifier just to see if that improves the air quality up there.

Anyone have experience with humidifiers and which one to choose?

Have you any idea as to the humidity level up there? You can get basic ones here. Most of our rooms sit around 45-55% and is perfectly comfortable.

Our attic-converted bedroom gets very warm and particularly dry air but as long as we have the windows open (even slightly) this just helps to circulate air and raises humidity enough to be comfortable. This time of year we can have ~40% humidity and 32oC without the windows open.

I have no experience with humidifiers though.
