I need some dry red chillies for cooking with tonight but haven't been able to buy them anywhere today for some reason.

Any one got a quick dry method for me? Reckon putting them in the oven on a really low heat for a few hours should perhaps get me something resembling a dry chilli.

not a method, but i know scorchio.co.uk sell dried chillies in bags i dont know if they have a retail shop though...

Ye saw a few places online selling but I'm in need of them for tonight.

Though Tesco or Asda would do them but it seems neither have any. Perhaps its a gap in the market. I could open a store and become the dried chilli King!

No more than 100 degrees C and leave them in there for 5 hours or so. Split them down the middle if you want to really make sure.

Cheers for the replies. Just stuck them in the oven at 50 degrees. Dont need them until 7ish so should be fine by then hopefully.

Careful - you want do dry but not cook!

Both Deluxe and I have cremated chillis before.. once they've dried they will quickly brown/burn.

I had this problem, couldnt find any dry chilli in tesco, ended up with the ones in liquid work pretty well, or just buy some chillis chop em finely and put em in mmm

As I said all supermarkets stock them in the form of chilli flakes. This is just dried chillies mashed up. Just use them if in a rush.
