Dryrod? - Anyone used them?

We have some noticed some rising damp having just plastered so need to remedy it quick.

I was using going to use Dryzone but notice they now do Dryrods.

Not yet, but I do plan to in the next 4- 6 weeks (as mentioned here... https://forums.overclockers.co.uk/threads/diy-dpc-injection.18769427/ ) or rather once I've removed the plaster from the areas I need to access.

Saw them last year whilst looking for DPC and they look straight forward enough to use and I prefer the idea of these over the injection foam/cream.

I have no knowledge or experience of this at all so perhaps Im missing the point completely here but how does inserting one of those rods into a hole drilled into concrete make a water barrier? How can it possibly penetrate through the concrete?

Edit - just to clarify the above, I know you use multiple rods and not just one.

From my brief look it appears as though the rods break down and penetrate into the surrounding brick work.
