DS Advice Please

Right im looking to get the girlfriend a DS for christmas but don't really know my way round the console market so need some suggestions and advice.

I know to get a DS Lite and i want to pick up 2 games, probably one of the brain training games and another but i haven't got a clue what maybe mario bros whats it like ? Any other suggestions for good games i cant seem to find a site that rates them

Is there any accessories that are a must have ?
Is there anything i need to know before i buy ?

A nice case is always a go9od idea when buying handhelds that'll be carried about a lot

As for games, my girlfriend loved pokemon, animal crossing and puzzle league.

essential accessory - a slot one flash adapter such as m3 simply, r4ds or cylcods + a micro sd card to play homebrew games,apps,music, movies etc.

Oooooo Phoenix Wright, totally forgot about that and Cooking Mama too. Yeah my girl loves them too. Good decision on the DS prezzie mate

Phantom Hourglass is a must. I had been playing that more than all my other gaming options!! My girlfriend loves Nintendogs, Mario Kart DS and all the Brain games, plus that sight training game.

The Mario bros game is pretty decent, I got that bundled with my DS. Phoenix Wright and Trauma Centre are probably pretty safe bets. My girlfriend was pretty obsessed with Trauma Centre actually. She wandered off with it and I didn't see her for two days... and we lived in the same house!

AWESOME. I will get that for my GF when I get her a DS then.
