DS lite brightness help

I got a ds lite today but can not figure out how to change the brightness setting, i thought they were supposed to have 4 settings? thanks

on the menu screen when you turn it on there is a lightbulb icon (I think its a lightbulb anyway), touch that and it'll go through the brightness levels

Thats the only small niggle I have with it is that you cant alter the brightness ingame only when you first turn it on.
