ds lite help

hi

ive recentlly got myself my first ds lite , i would like to know if i need a memory card for this ?

also if say i want to update the ds lite is there a way to connect it to a internet pc by way of cable instead of wi/fi to update or download stuff ?

nevermind guys , i should do my research , it looks like the game catridge itself saves the game and as for internet updates like firmware the ds lite does'nt do them (only dsi)
