DS lite online, will this work ?

I brought one of these today,

Netgear WG111 USB2 Wireless adapter

can you use these to connect with the ds to go online as my ds is incompatible with my router

Not as far as I know. You can 'hack' selected nics to let you use them as an ap for the DS but for the moment its a real AP or the nitendo stick thing to get a ds online.

I done mucho messing aboiut trying to get various dongles to work as AP's. No sucess.

Bought a nintendo wi-fi adapter, was online within 2 minutes.

Same, although a lot of people have reported problems.

Got my PSP connected to it as well, no problems.

ive got routers and AP's all over the shop, how do u get a DS to connect? ya know with WEP keys and the like? or am i off on one totally?

Just start a wifi game and select wifi configure. Search for your SSID and then type in the wep/wpa key. simple as, really.

Any wireless B device capable of working as an accesspoint should do the job with the DS.

I'm using a linksys router with b/g for example and it works fine.

Lowrider, I think that adaptor should come with software to let it work as an access point, if so set the adaptor to accesspoint and you should be able to use it (assuming you've already go t it).

going a bit OT but if you use a wifi dongle as an AP does it only allow other comps to connect to you? or what? im bit confused about the concept of AP's actually :confused:

I tried setting up the adapter as an AP but still no joy so I gave up in the end and sold the adapter on MM already

, think I'll just order an official Nintendo one, thanks anyway guys

At least for but I'm pretty sure it's up to 7. Will have to google for a definite answer.

I was under the impression that the DS couldn't connect to an AP using WEP?

Sorry had my names mixed up, I mena WPA rather than WEP.

A number of places report that the DS dosn't support WPA:

Yeah, this is well documented. The harware just doesn't support WPA unfortunatley.

o right, iver never actually tried because I rem my psp couldnt use wpa so i moved over to wep. I know now the later firmwares of psp do work though with wpa.

I did the same thing originally but never ended up using the DS online much so switched back to WPA

I use it a lot. Mario kart, metroid and Tetris are fansatic. Tony Hwaks isn't bad as well
