I currently have a PSP but I am seriously thinking of selling and getting a ds lite insted, is their any fors and againsts here at all, I am looking for a hand held that the wife can sort of play also and think the DS lite will allow that with some of the games.

Any ideas on decent games?

I got a PSP and my brother has a DS lite and I've got to say I've had more fun on the DS. Dr Kawashima's brain training is really good and so is Mario.

i have both, the psp is technically superior, but the ds is probably a little more fun. Thanks to Mario Kart !

mind you i've not bought vice city yet.. i dunno you'll be happy with either one.

I had both hardly ever used the PSP so it went back and was traded in for a PS2. DS Lite I play daily and would prolly get rid of my PS2 and 360 before I even considered getting rid of the DS.

Only game i liked on the PSP was Wipeout Pure & that was just because of the Zones mini game inside it. The DS i had plenty of fun playing Mario Kart with friends & on my own & also the brain game is awesome too!

Out of the 2 i'd say the DS because it seems to have that more of a "FUN" factor to it. The PSP isn't all that bad but it's really a PS2 handheld heh (might not be techincally correct but it seemed that to me)

[EDIT]Sorry i didn't read your post properly but she might get a kick out of nintendogs & the brain teaser game & zoo keeper is pretty cool too

If your wife isn't a gamer, then you're more likely to get her interested in a DS than a PSP, so you're thinking along the right lines. I'd probably go for Brain Training, and something like Kirby: Power Paintbrush, which uses the stylus. Trauma Centre is also an excellent game, but it is a bit gorey. I don't know much about the Nintendogs games, but they seem to attract a lot of "non-gamers", so I'd recommend looking them up.

It all depends on what kind of games you're into. There are some decent titles coming out for the PSP this year, but if they are not your cup of tea they go for the DS. I think there is as big a difference in these two handhelds and the type of games/gameplay as there is between the 360/PS3 and the Wii.

Don’t bother it isn’t as good as liberty city stories.

I have a DS Lite and my wife just won't put it down. When I first bought it she got really into New Super Mario Bros and since then has played Animal Crossing pretty much every day. She also playing a lot of Brain Training too.

Don't think you can go wrong with a DS to be honest, lots of innovative quirky little games that non-gamers (such as my wife used to be) seem to like.

Bought a DS at launch, loved it but then sold it as I wasn't using it quite as much as I would have liked.
Bought the wife a DS Lite in white, she loves it to bits.
Increased our catalogue of games - I found I was playing it more and more again.
Wife started making "comments" - found place online with stock of DS Lite in Black and took delivery of another one for myself yesterday.

I don't know what it is about the DS Lite - I just love it.
It's got a great catalogue of games right now, 2007 is supposed to be a bumper year for even more.

I think it's mainly the fact the games on the DS Lite are different, not just ports of games from other systems.
The DS gets exclusives that will only appear on that format.
You won't regret a DS Lite purchase.

Couldn't disagree more, it's loads better than LC. But then it's down to personal preference again isn't it. The landscape, music, missions, extra vehicles including helicopters and side missions like building your business empires make this game a whole lot more playable than LC imo.

Isn't that a little hard for non gamers?

It's just drawing, and it's highly intuitive. My dad was playing it at Christmas and he has never played a computer game before in his life.

The game takes its self far far FAR too seriously for my liking, and after a couple of hour lance get very annoying, the music isn’t as good a vice city and I just get the feeling of been there done that with vcs where as I enjoyed returning to liberty city after such a long gap, but like you said its down to personal preferences.

Back to topic if your getting a DS you have to get the New super mario bros for it
