Hi all,

Well im just seeing what DS games I can buy next as I’ve finally finished Hotel Dusk! Taken me ages!! -9 months+.

I’ve noticed Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Darkness & Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers Of Darkness.
I’ve never played Pokemon before so are the new games a good place to start or not? Are they worth getting In to?

I think you're better off getting Diamond/Pearl if you want the authentic pokemon experience, they're good fun and have a lot of real depth once you get into it.

However i got halfway through the game and got bored, i much prefer FF3 which i think is a more polished RPG.

Diamond and Pearl are great games to play. Apparently the mystery dungeon games aren't quite as good as they are developed by a different team entirely and have different mechanics to the way the game works.

Haven't played the mystery dungeon games myself.

I would stay away from the mystery dungeon games if I was you. I tried playing one through and its no where near as good as the normal games and ends up being really frustrating.

Can I just ask why the reworked originals come so highly recommended?

Because the originals are far better balanced than any of the sequels where stupid numbers of pokemon, moves and features were added. Red and Blue are still easily the best versions and the reworked ones are basically a graphical update.

Ahh I see. Have to agree that Red is the best version I have played. Although I did have a soft spot for Gold. Might have to check the reworked versions out then.

Pearl/Diamond are decent games, although I find them a bit lacking compared to the previous games, because it feels like you only see about 50 decent pokemon throughout it, whereas the GBA ones had loads and loads for you to find. But it's got online play and is the most recent, so yeah, go for it.

The originals weren't balanced at all. Psychic types dominated...
I was gonna say that. No special split and no real weakness for Psychics. Gold and Silver were far better games because they balanced all that. Personally I think Sapphire/Ruby were better GBA games than the remade originals.

:O I thought us pokemon fans hid our fetish?

Completed Yellow, Gold and Pearl :)

Was years between all three so can't really say how good each are, I enjoyed them all.

Remember having a team of 6 'Unknowns' using that 'hidden power' spell. Ownage.

Or if you like forget pokemon altogether and play Mario+luigi: partners in time. Been having loads of fun with it so far ;p

diamond is decent tbh. Im gonna try that new one that came out (in uk) soon. like blue dungeon rescue thing, but newer.
