DS to a DSi worth it?

I'm pondering whether to pick a DSi up tomorrow!

I want to play Chinatown Wars and after seeing some of the features of the DSi im impressed. Initially i wasn't interested at all.

Dunno what colour to get though. I'd probably get a white one! :p

I am not trying to start an argument, but genuinely interested, what features interest you?

Not from what I saw, but I suppose people have different perceptions with this.

Aye, depends with the person really. I mean I traded my dad's old DS in and gave him my Red DS I've only had a year. I'm more than happy with the larger screen.

Shame my nephews DS Lite is knackered, the top screen blacks out and doesnt work properly :( woulda liked to trade it in

After watching a video on Gametrailers;

http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47091.html

I like the features that were shown and while i sold my DS lite some time ago on the MM i wanted a DS again.

To me it seems like a Wii portable at the moment in terms of software and the way stuff is executed. I like the shop also, i really hope they start to put old SNES games on it, i want to play Zelda LTTP on it!

From what i read if you have the ds phat the upgrade to the dsi is worth it.

For those of you who have already got the dsi whats the d-pad like is it as spungy of the ds lite d-pad?

The D-Pad is strange, i'm not sure i like it!

It clicks?!

I think it's a worthy upgrade to the DS Lite. It almost seems in between a fully fledged platform upgrade and the DS Lite imo. A definite upgrade though nonetheless. There is way more features.

The buttons have a very subtle click to them, but are still very soft to press. In other words it's very well put together imo and has a nicer feel to it than the lite.I would have thought it'd be the same but overall it's a lot nicer having the menus and the ability to hot swop games rather than switching it off.

I'm hoping that Marvel bring these e-comics to the DS store like they're doing with the PSP, that would be awesome!

yep i agree, it has a nice feel to it, and the shoulder buttons have a springy press to it, you know what i mean ;)

Get Phoenix wright, + Justic for all, + Trials and Tribulations, + Apollo Justice. OR better yet a flashcart

Flashcards don't work with the DSi mate, some do but I'm not going to waste money on one again, I'll only ever max play 3 games at a single time, if I play more then I just don't play on the games I really want to play.

The homebrew community will get up and running soon, I just hope N do some really good things with the DSi ware channel as it has huge potential.

hopefully cyclods will soon. I love mine to bits!! :D

The d-pad click's, so would you say that it more like the original DS (phat) d-pad?

Aye, ain't used the original for years but it has a similar feel but it feels a bit softer if I can recall. better than the lites anyway. even the ABXY have a subtle click to them.

One thing i have just noticed is that i can hot swap games now!

IIRC on the DS Lite it would crash if you ejected a game and put a new one in if the device was on.
